Alfred Balitzer, Ph.D.

Dr. Balitzer has been teaching American government, political philosophy and U.S.-Asia relations at Claremont McKenna College for thirty four years. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at Claremont Graduate University where he serves on the Board of the School of Politics and Economics and as Chair of the California Policy Institute at Claremont. Dr. Balitzer is also a member of the Board and Treasurer of the American Academy of Liberal Education.

In addition, Dr. Balitzer is an internationally recognized authority on American politics, appearing frequently on American radio and television as well as speaking on the subject throughout Asia and Europe. He is also a regular contributor to Asian newspapers and periodicals.

Balitzer has been involved in numerous political campaigns throughout California and the nation. His campaign experience includes four presidential campaigns, U.S. Senate and gubernatorial campaigns in California and other states and numerous local elections and statewide initiative campaigns.

A few examples of past positions in government and politics are National Chairman, Scholars for Reagan-Bush '84; Consultant to the Secretary, United States Department of the Interior; and Special Ambassador to Brunei, appointed by President Reagan in 1984, a position that started Balitzer on a relationship with Asia that continues to this day.

Dr. Balitzer resides in Huntington Beach, in Orange County California. When he is not otherwise engaged, Balitzer and his son, Rodney, are avid boaters.
