Daniel K.H. Chao

Daniel K.H. Chao is Chairman and President of Bechtel China and a Senior Vice President of Bechtel Group, Inc. Dr. Chao has responsibility for Bechtelˇ¦s activities in Greater China including its two joint venture companies, Bechtel ˇV CITIC Engineering Inc. (BCEI) on the mainland and Pacific Engineers & Constructors, Ltd (PECL) in Taiwan.

Dr. Chao has spent 26 years in corporate management and finance, project development, banking, equity investments, and risk management. He has worked on numerous projects including the new Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong, the water distribution system in Manila, and the Gerede-Ankara Motorway in Turkey. He was elected a Senior Vice President of Bechtel Corporation in 1996. Prior to joining Bechtel, Dr. Chao was vice president of Citicorp Global Investment Bank.

Dr. Chao holds a B.A. from Stanford University (Phi Beta Kappa), an M.A., M.A.L.D., and PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and an Advanced Professional Certificate (Business) from New York University.

He is a licensed broker / dealer with the National Association of Securities Dealers, and has served on the Advisory Board of the Export-Import Bank of the U.S., the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Business Council, and as Chairman of the California-Asia Business Council. Dr. Chao is currently on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Committee of 100 and serves as the Vice Chairman of C-100ˇ¦s Asia region.
